This safari combines the rugged, remote beauty of northern Kenya with one of the country’s most successful conservation areas. You will explore the dramatic landscapes of Samburu National Reserve, home to rare northern species, and Ol Pejeta Conservancy, renowned for rhino conservation, chimpanzee sanctuary visits, and diverse wildlife.
Safari Itinerary
You will be picked up early in the morning from your Nairobi residence or hotel and begin your scenic drive north through central Kenya, passing tea and coffee plantations, rural towns, and dramatic landscapes.
Arrive in Samburu in time for lunch at your lodge or camp. After a short rest, depart for an afternoon game drive along the Ewaso Nyiro River, where wildlife often gathers to drink.
Samburu is famous for the “Special Five”: Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, gerenuk, and Beisa oryx. You may also encounter elephants, lions, leopards, and a rich variety of birdlife.
Return to your lodge in the early evening for dinner and overnight stay.
After an early breakfast, depart for a full-day game drive in Samburu with a packed picnic lunch.
Spend the day exploring different areas of the reserve, following wildlife trails along the riverbanks and open plains. This extended game drive allows for excellent wildlife photography and relaxed viewing without rushing.
Lunch will be enjoyed at a designated picnic site within the park. Continue with afternoon game viewing before returning to your lodge in the late afternoon.
Dinner and overnight at your Samburu lodge or camp.
After breakfast, check out and drive south toward Ol Pejeta Conservancy, located in the Laikipia region at the foothills of Mount Kenya.
Arrive in time for lunch at your lodge. In the afternoon, head out for a game drive inside Ol Pejeta, one of Kenya’s most wildlife-rich private conservancies.
Highlights include sightings of black and white rhinos, large elephant herds, lions, cheetahs, and plains game. You may also visit the chimpanzee sanctuary (time permitting), which is home to rescued chimpanzees.
Return to your lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight.
After breakfast, enjoy a final morning game drive in Ol Pejeta, taking advantage of the cooler hours when animals are most active.
Later in the morning, exit the conservancy and begin your drive back to Nairobi. Arrive in the late afternoon and be dropped off at your residence, hotel, or airport.
