Trip Itinerary
Your safari begins with an early morning pick-up from your Nairobi hotel, residence, or the airport. Depart northwards through central Kenya, passing tea and coffee plantations, local markets, and equatorial landscapes. A brief stop will be made at the Equator crossing for photos and refreshments.
Continue toward Samburu, descending into the semi-arid north where the scenery becomes rugged and dramatic. Arrive at your lodge or camp in time for lunch and a short rest.
In the late afternoon, proceed for your first game drive along the Ewaso Nyiro River. This region is known for the rare “Samburu Special Five” — Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, gerenuk, and Beisa oryx — as well as elephants, lions, and leopards.
Return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight.
After an early breakfast, depart for a full-day game drive with a packed picnic lunch. Explore deeper sections of the reserve, following the riverbanks and open plains where wildlife gathers to drink and cool off.
Your guide will focus on tracking predators and photographing unique species that thrive in Samburu’s dry ecosystem. Midday, enjoy your picnic lunch at a shaded viewpoint overlooking the river before continuing with afternoon game viewing.
Return to the lodge in the late afternoon. The evening is at leisure, followed by dinner and overnight.
After breakfast, check out and drive south toward the Laikipia Plateau. Arrive at Ol Pejeta Conservancy in time for lunch at your lodge.
In the afternoon, enjoy a guided game drive within the conservancy, home to the Big Five and East Africa’s largest population of black rhinos. You may also encounter endangered species such as the Grevy’s zebra and Jackson’s hartebeest. Optional visits to the chimpanzee sanctuary can be arranged depending on time.
Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
After breakfast, depart Ol Pejeta and drive toward the Great Rift Valley. Enjoy scenic views as you descend into the valley floor.
Arrive at Lake Nakuru National Park in time for lunch at your lodge. Later in the afternoon, head out for a game drive around the lake and surrounding acacia woodlands. The park is famous for flamingos (seasonal), pelicans, rhinos, Rothschild’s giraffes, and tree-climbing lions.
Return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight.
After an early breakfast, depart Lake Nakuru and drive southwest toward the Masai Mara, passing through rural countryside and Maasai settlements.
Arrive in Masai Mara in time for lunch at your camp or lodge. After settling in, head out for an afternoon game drive across the vast savannahs. Expect sightings of elephants, buffalo, giraffes, and predators such as lions and cheetahs.
Return to the camp in the evening for dinner and overnight.
After breakfast, depart for a full-day game drive with a packed picnic lunch. Spend the day exploring different regions of the reserve, including river crossings and open plains where wildlife density is highest.
Your guide will focus on tracking big cats and, if traveling during migration season, the wildebeest crossings at the Mara River. Enjoy lunch in the wild before continuing game viewing until late afternoon.
Return to camp for dinner and overnight.
After breakfast, check out and begin the return journey to Nairobi. Enjoy the final views of the Mara plains as you exit the reserve.
Arrive in Nairobi in the late afternoon and be dropped off at your hotel, residence, or the airport, marking the end of your safari adventure.
